Welcome to Meditate in Iowa City, the home of Lamrim Kadampa Buddhist Center on the web. Offering the path of wisdom and compassion in Iowa City, Des Moines, and throughout the state of Iowa.

LKBC was founded in 2005 by world renown meditation master and Buddhist scholar Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso as a non-profit organization and member of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT – IKBU). The center offers introductory classes, study programs, retreats, and special events suitable for all levels of interest under the guidance of American Buddhist monk, close disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, and Resident Teacher, Kelsang Wangden.

Lamrim Kadampa Buddhist Center is an oasis of peace in the state of Iowa and functions to help people learn practical methods on how to solve their daily problems and to live a happy and meaningful life. Through learning to integrate Buddha’s advice into our lives we can gradually become more and more successful in dealing with the difficulties we all experience. Eventually we will gain the strength and stability of mind to meet with life’s greatest challenges in very peaceful and positive ways.

All Kadampa Buddhist centers are open to the public. Every year we celebrate Festivals and Celebrations throughout the world, where people can gather to receive special teachings and empowerments and to enjoy a spiritual holiday. Please feel free to visit us any time!
