Death - Teachings for a Meaningful Life
Saturday, February 4th 10am-3:30pm
at Lamrim Kadampa Buddhist Center 502 ½ W. 3rd Street, Davenport, IA
“We are alive, therefore we will die. This is the simplest most obvious truth of our existence and yet very few of us have really come to terms with it.
If death were the end of our problems, perhaps we need not be so concerned but, as Buddha taught, for as long as we remain ordinary beings, one life is followed by another as surely as day is followed by night,” - Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in Living Meaningfully, Dying Joyfully
In this day course we will learn how coming to terms with our mortality enriches our life and enables us to meet our passing with dignity, confidence, and joy.

REFUGE Retreat
Monday February 20th – Saturday February 25th
6 Sessions per day http://www.meditateiniowa.org/refuge-retreat
Going for refuge means finding protection from our problems by developing special Dharma realizations with the help of Buddha’s blessings and encouragement from our Sanhga friends.
During this retreat we will learn how to develop a heart felt reliance on the Three Jewels Buddha, Dharma and Sanhga.
Buddha is the source of all teachings and blessings,
Dharma is the realization of Buddha’s teachings, and
Sangha is the pure Dharma practitioners who help us with our spiritual practice.

http://www.meditateiniowa.org/foundation-program-class-at-davenport-location-saturday-10am-noon
“It sometimes feels as if Dharma is there and we are here. We find it difficult to integrate Dharma into our everyday lives and so we cannot use it to solve our problems. If we just pick at Dharma randomly we will never gain a deep and stable experience, and our wisdom will never develop to its full potential”. –Venerable Geshe Keslang Gyasto
The Foundation Program (FP) provides a systematic presentation of particular subjects of Mahayana Buddhism to enable practitioners to deepen their knowledge and experience of Buddhism.
